Makers & Finders Market @ Murwillumbah NSW
The great thing about small towns is that they have to work hard to survive. Murwillumbah better known as Mur-bah is a town that has been through boom and burst.
In March 2017, the Tweed Valley and surrounding regions were devastated by a 100 year flood. The destruction of the town is difficult to put into words. The flood came so fast, no one was really prepared. Although, there had been heavy rain for days, there didn’t appear to be any real hype about it.
When all the catchment areas in each village reached capacity….all hell broke loose!
Makers & Finders Market
Mur-bah is slowly getting back on its feet with the support of the federal and local governments, local communities, fund raising efforts and the influx of tourism to the region has encouraged businesses to continue.
Today, the opening of a new monthly gathering ‘Makers & Finders’ Market commenced in the family friendly ‘Knox Park’. Visitors enjoyed the sunny day under the shade of the large trees while the children played at the newly renovated youth precinct and skate park. Matty Rogers
The market is held on the third Saturday of each month from 9am – 3pm and full of vintage wares, handmade craft, art, food trucks, live entertainment, activities and workshops provided by local arts groups and community organisations. Matty Rogers, Gold Coast based vocalist was a real highlight and very well received.
