Scenic Rim Brewery & Cafe

Just one hour’s drive from Brisbane and the Gold Coast lies the natural beauty, which is the beating heart of the Scenic Rim. This already popular wine region and country destination have welcomed with open arms, the Scenic Rim Brewery to the tourism mix in the tiny town of Mount Alford.

Today, people want to know where their beer comes from and a little about their local brewer. Mike and Wendy are the founders of the Scenic Rim micro-brewery and cafe. They are passionate about the region and love sharing their knowledge of brewing. Their brews are 100% hand-crafted on-site from brewing in the large copper tanks to labelling and hand packaging of each bottle of beer.

Wendy and Mike wanted their brewery to stand apart from other breweries. Their beers have a character and story that harnesses the larrikin nature of typical Australians. With beer names like Fat Man and Shazza, you know there has to be an epic story behind them. Visitors enjoy asking about these characters and purchase their favourites to share at home with family and friends.

Mount Alford First General Store Heritage Listed

Since late 2016, they have warmly welcomed customers through their 130-year-old shop front that was once an old general store. The heritage-listed building is also a buzzing café catering for more than just beer lovers. Adorning the walls and counters, you find a wide selection of quality products complimenting their beers on display. The owners of Scenic Rim Brewery have developed strong business partnerships within the local community. Supporting the local producers and business owners are important to them.

Brewers Grains

With the explosion of craft brewers across the nation, it’s not just a win for the thirsty masses. It’s also a windfall for farmers and local communities. Ingredients are sourced from local dairy and sheep farms, with spent grain, the by-product from the brewing process is given back to the agricultural community. These brewers are making beer, but they are also creating a by-product that is used by their neighbours.
