Travel Review Sites
TripAdvisor is a travel and restaurant website company that shows hotel and restaurant reviews, accommodation bookings and other travel-related content. It is my number one site for seeking information on where to stay and eat. Here’s what other TripAdvisor visitors to Fitzroy Island have to say in their reviews.

Eating Options on Queensland Island
Zephyr Restaurant on Fitzroy Island overlooks the calm waters of Welcome Bay offering a true tropical dining experience with Modern Australian Cuisine. Resort guests and visitors can dine and drink at Foxy’s Bar, a large shady restaurant on the ocean front. On weekends, Foxy’s offers live music in an idyllic setting.
A small general store with provision for very basic food supplies including milk, bread, eggs, pre-made sandwiches, pies, sausage rolls, small cakes, drinks and an assortment of small souvenirs caters more for campers and day trippers.
For those who wish to bring food to the island, there is a Woolworths Supermarket on Abbot Street which is a 10-minute walk from the Marlin Wharf, where the Fast Cat island transfers depart.
Consumption of BYO alcohol and lighting of fires is not permitted, and noise restrictions are enforced after 10 pm. The island is licensed, and takeaway alcohol is available for purchase through Foxy’s Restaurant and Bar.

Fitzroy Island Activities
There are a number of water activities to choose from including snorkelling, diving, swimming, kayaking and stand-up paddle boarding. The Beach Dive and Adventure Centre hires a selection of water activity equipment. If you prefer not to get wet, there is the ‘Glass Bottom Boat Tour and Scenic Catamaran Sailing Experience’.
The beach is made up of white coral fragments and difficult to walk on without shoes. Ideally, waterproof shoes or thongs are best should you wish to walk along the beach. There is limited shade on the beach so ensure you wear sunscreen, hat and swim shirt during the hot months.
Fish Feeding
Fish feeding takes place at the jetty twice daily at 11:30am – 3:30pm.
Meet the Turtles
Queensland has the longest history of marine turtle conservation and management in Australia. Doug Gamble Fitzroy Island Resort Director donated the land for island’s Turtle Rehabilitation Centre. Visitors can take a tour of the centre to learn more about the history of the organisation and the plight of injured, sick turtles and the successful recovery program, prior to the turtles release back into the ocean. Adults $8.80 Children $5.50. Tours can only be booked on the day via the General Store (next to Foxy’s Bar.) Resort guests can book via the resort’s reception.
Nature and Beach Walks
Lighthouse and Summit self-guided walks offer exceptional ocean views. The walks to the lighthouse and summit are quite steep and suitable footwear is advisable. Behind Foxy’s bar is a beautiful and peaceful rainforest walk through the Secret Garden and access to Nudey Beach. Nudey in name only. It is illegal to swim or sunbathe in the nude on Fitzroy Island.
